On books, the concept of home, and independent media

Interlude #2

yesterday we had the second interlude session, and it was so much fun :) I had told myself I would only do an hour max but couldn’t help myself and stayed an extra hour. I might start holding them twice a month so that we can get to all of the things I want to share and talk with you about!!

Click here for the list of resources I shared during the live!

here are some ideas that came up for future Interlude sessions:

  • Notion tour—I have my entire life organized there so I could share a bit of how I have my systems set up.

  • digital book selection—this time around I shared some books from my physical collection, but I read a LOT of digital books, so it could be fun too (plus most of them are free to access!!)

  • trinket tour—literally not one person asked for this but I have so many adorable trinkets from Italy. I think finding objects that hold sentimental value, intrinsically makes their lifecycle much longer, which is especially true when we buy them second-hand.

  • digital browsing ride-along—so many of the ideas, resources, and research I share with you emerge from just drifting around, jumping from hyperlink to hyperlink. I have taken up the practice much more seriously ever since I did this little project exploring what a “digital dérive” could be, so maybe you could come along with me during one of my sessions :)

either way, these will always be laid back, conversational, and open!

(also quality moving forward will be much better lollll)

in other news, I noticed that there was a lot to tell you guys about what’s going on regarding community dynamics and segments, so I decided to put together a bulletin board where you can always know what is going on and what is coming up in IOD!! it lives on the website on the navigation bar, but I’ll make sure to be sharing it whenever there are any significant updates. for now, feel free to explore!

I opened up the chat for everyone as a trial to see how it goes, so the guidelines for it are included here if you want to participate :)

LIST OF RESOURCES AND KEY NOTES

as promised, here is the list of resources + miscellaneous things I shared with you during the live!

this is available for paid subs only—it’s because of their support that I can do this full-time and devote as much love and effort into this space as I can! if you watch the recording, you’ll still get to know all of them, but as a little practical treat, everything is linked below <3

If you want to access them and support all of this work, and obviously get a lot of cool perks (including participating in the first meeting of the media club), consider upgrading your subscription :)
